Now the winter nights are setting in I thought about the idea of having a Family game night. I used to this as a child I looked forward to playing such games as Monopoly, Scrabble etc. I wanted to help my children understand the need for turn taking ( which at the moment they haven’t quite grasped ) whilst they are having fun.
When I heard we were part of the Fun Times campaign I knew this would be right up our street. We were sent JUNIOR SCRABBLE from MATTEL. I must admit I was very excited to receive this as it brought back fond memories of playing scrabble with my parents and Grandparents on a Friday night, very enjoyable.
The first thing that struck me about JUNIOR SCRABBLE was the board has two games on. One for the younger players – words and pictures. It encourages youngsters to learn to spell, letter recognition as they match the letters they have with the ones on the board, turn taking as well as learning rules of a game. Then on the other side of the JUNIOR SCRABBLE board is more like the original scrabble
JUNIOR SCRABBLE has a more colourful and smaller board as opposed to the original game of scrabble. Players only take 5 tiles at a time. The tiles themselves are a lot bigger and more vivid, perfect for younger children.
We had lots of fun playing JUNIOR SCRABBLE as we all sat playing on Friday night. It was good to see the children learning the concept of sharing whilst having fun. I think JUNIOR SCRABBLE night’s should be a regular occurance.
