After having an impromptu blogging break due to a chest infection, there is so much that I want to share. We have had quite a few meetings these last few weeks. All with very positive outcomes and giving us hope for the future.
The first meeting was to discuss Zak’s schooling for next year. Ideally with all his complex needs we would love him to go to a special school. If he did end up in mainstream we have been told that he would receive 1:1 which is a relief. So we asked about how we go about getting Zak a statement of educational needs. It turns out they are abolishing statements instead they are bringing in EHC. This means that all services that work with Zak will help give a bigger picture of Zak’s needs. So fingers crossed we get accepted as we have just applied for an EHC.
The next big thing that has happened is that we have been assigned a keyworker. Who will work with the whole family, not just the children. The great thing about the keyworker is they have worked with the family before so know all about us. After the initial meeting with the keyworker we are now working on strategies to encourage Zak to eat, Elyssia to become more confident.
Plus ideas of Mr Savvy and myself to spend more time together instead of sitting in the 4 walls of the house, watching telly. One of the suggestions is that Mr Savvy and I go swimming, not only will this help me strengthen my muscles from all the strokes. It will give us some US time as well. So once this chest infection has disappeared we will start going swimming. Another idea is to drive up to the seafront as even though it is 5 minutes away I am unable to walk that far. Sit on the seafront where I can watch Storm running on the beach.
For the first time in months I am beginning to feel more positive about the future.
