I wonder if the powers that be sit down and think how can we make peoples lives difficult even though life is difficult enough. Oh I know , let’s have a mid-week inset day, that will stir things up and make life stressful.
Today my daughter’s school decided it would have an inset day, not at the end of the week or the start of the week that would have been more logical. Right in the middle of the week. My daughter has autistic traits (full diagnosis of autism not verified YET !! ) and works to a strict routine. It wasn’t till today that we realised how much this routine control her.
She was like a caged animal that suddenly went berserk and she erupted like Mount Edna, there was no calming her down. This all started off at 3.30pm it was a constant barrage of screaming, throwing things. This was so much more than a tantrum this was a full blown meltdown. It was upsetting to this normally happy smiley girl snap and become this whirlwind of torment, uncontrollable and inconsolable. It took 5 hours for her to eventually calm down .
All this was due to the fact she didn’t go to school, have the usual routine of the day. So thank you for having a mid week inset day you have made my life even more stressful.

Your daughter is changing – dramatically so. That is a sign that something else besides autism and or Asperger’s, both of which I have, is going on. Many of us confuse autism and lump it in with other things – that autism seem to make the diagnosis easier to pick up. The schools are big businesses; they cannot and do not operate on the needs and wants of the parents – sad but true. That is child care that tends to go within that model of organization. It may have been that the consultants or whatever or who ever need for the day were only available in the middle of the week. With the reduction in funding and staff for almost all schools all over the western world – the schools will certainly again have days that parents do not expect. People with autism and Asperger’s, remember which I have, understand annoyance and in some cases, when young, may perceive that they are blamed for mum or dad’s view that the school should be open. We may not understand it; but we certainly recognise anger and annoyance in our parents. I am sure you will get your lovely girl back again. Even if she has found to have autism and or Asperger’s she will always be the treasure of your life.
Thank you for your comment.
Yes it’s so true with what your saying. I am looking forward to getting my little girl back .
