Last week the Savettes descended to the NEC in Birmingham to go to the Caravan and Camping show. We have decided after 4 long years we all need a holiday and camping seemed the obvious option. So we went to the show to get some ideas of the camping accessories.
One of stands we wanted to visit was Vango to see the Air beam tents. I fell in love with whole concept of the Vango Air Beam. A family tent that could be put up in less than 10 minutes and the added bonus for me was there was no heavy poles to lug around. I could see this being so beneficial for my family as I have 3 children with autism and have varying disabilities, that need constant watching and attention. The idea of being able to pitch a tent within 10 minutes was a god send. It would be much better than the alternative of having to put up with hours of the children screaming while hubby battled to put up a tent alone as I am unable to help him due to my health issues.
There were a few air beams to choose from to suit any family. For me I loved the layout of the Eclipse as it was not only spacious but with the added bonus of an additional front canopy would be useful for storing the wheelchairs and not compromising the space in the main tent.
I watched in amazement at the Air beam pump me up challenge, it showed just how easy and quick it was to put the tent up. That sold it for me I knew this was the perfect tent for our family.
Whilst going round the stands we saw plenty of ideas that would be perfect for our pending camping trip. I really loved a dining set that was made of tempered glass but with my children I didn’t think it would be suitable. Then there were several stands of camp sites to help you get ideas of the wonderful holidays that lie ahead.
To get back to the car park we decided to catch the shuttle bus as it was bitterly cold as Zak has trouble maintaining his body temperature and soon gets cold . We waited for the bus to arrive when we realised how busy it was decided to wait for the next one, we did have 3 wheelchairs so didn’t think it was fair to take up the room. The bus driver called us over and made special room for us so we didn’t have to wait in the cold. How nice was that of him. Usually we are met with such disdain it was nice to have such a compassionate driver. So thank you NEC Caravan and Camping show for such a great day.
